The Yunnan project also focuses on education, training, dialogue and participation from the local people. Therefore 5 community houses have been built as meeting places and tuition centre for the people to receive training within different subjects. Sport facilities have also been made for the children.
Learning about rights
The community houses are being used for education and different training programmes. All villagers have received education. Books and educational material have been made within the following 3 topics:
• Health and hygiene
• Women rights and law
• New farming techniques
Revival of Yao silver and embroidery
A special training programme has been carried out for Yao silver crafts and embroidery. In this programme the participants are supported in making new designs for their silverwork and embroideries, and they learn how to market their products.
Ruling the rural area
New farming techniques have been taught and the farmers have received training in relation to the growing of Tsao Ko and herbal medicine plants.
