The major earthquake in May 2008 in Sichuan devastated many cities and killed more than 70,000 people and wounded more than 350,000. The cost of rebuilding is now considered to be more than 150 billion dollars. The employees at Bestseller‘s offices made contributions, and the Bestseller Fund decided to participate in making a development project in the earthquake zone.
With our experience within village development from Yunnan, we wanted to find an area where we could help rebuild and develop a village. Through contacts in The Chinese Ministry of Foreign affairs we approached the Jiuzhaigou County in the Northern part of Sichuan, and in collaboration with The Poverty Alleviation Office we began searching for a village to help and found the village Zhimajia and found the village Zhimajia.
