The Upasana Design Studio was founded in 1997 by Uma Haimavati, a graduate from the National Institute of Fashion Technology in New Delhi.
Upasana is a place where business, creativity, fashion, Indian culture, design, social responsibility, and spiritual progress all come together in a creative synthesis. It is a place where people are the central focus and all the projects, products, and resources are meant to help people grow and develop into their full radiance.
Upasana has many projects including recycling seminars, textile workshops, a campaign against throwaway plastic bags and the Tsunamika dolls, a craftman’s response to the tsunami.
The studio also initiated the manufacturing of 13,000 thousand hand crafted products to be made as a New Years gift for BESTSELLER A/S. The Upasana Design Studio is a part of Auroville, a spiritual community in the South of India. Read more about Upasana at
