The BESTSELLER FUND was established in 1995 as an independent charitable organization, aiming to help with humanitarian work and supporting various cultural initiatives in Denmark and abroad. The fund is associated with BESTSELLER; a family owned clothing company, founded in Ringkøbing in 1975 by Troels Holch Povlsen and Merete Bech Povlsen.
In the beginning, the BESTSELLER FUND primarily supported cultural activities and the renovation of older buildings in Denmark. In more recent years, the fund has turned its eyes toward those parts of the world where the suppliers of the various BESTSELLER brands produce the clothes and accessories.
The BESTSELLER FUND now works primarily with groups from the poorest levels of society in India and China. The efforts of the BESTSELLER FUND is not directly related to BESTSELLER activities, but serves as a means to give something back to these developing societies.
The BESTSELLER FUND has a sister fund in India and representative offices in China and India.
